How can I get my members to be compliant?
Let’s explore innovative ways to get members engaged enough to care about compliance.

As coworking space operators and CMRA agents, we know firsthand how tricky it is to educate members about compliance. Some members don’t even know that compliance is a thing while others might drag their feet. Let’s face it, it’s not the most thrilling topic.
Here are three effective strategies to increase member engagement and ensure compliance:
A message a week keeps the USPS inspector away? (or so we hope)
Use automated messages and notifications to keep your members updated on their compliance status. At PilotoMail we have simplified this process with in-app banners, notifications, and email reminders. If you do not currently have a Mail Management Tool, you can send reminders via email or design an SMS campaign!
Let’s Lunch and Learn
Nothing brings members into a space more than community…and food. A lunch and learn session about compliance can be a great way to connect with those non-compliant members face-to-face. An Educational Campaign can make all the difference between disengaged and compliant members. Many people simply don’t know the compliance requirements or understand why they are important. Even the most engaged members might overlook compliance if they don’t get the full picture.
For Social Media:
For an email marketing campaign:
For physical space reminders:
It’s all about making your members aware that compliance is important and will happen soon. The more information they have, the more they will care.
No face, no mail.
This is pure tough love, which might not work with everyone. But if it comes to that, you need to highlight the consequences of not being compliant: they won’t be able to receive mail at your spaces if they don’t comply. Allowing a member who is not compliant to receive mail at your space puts your CMRA status in jeopardy. Not only can you get fined by the USPS, but your status can be revoked, making it illegal for your spaces to receive any type of correspondence.
Compliance is important for both you as a CMRA operator and your members. Non-compliant members can’t receive mail at your space unless they are compliant. As we have implemented many of these strategies in our own spaces, we have realized that the more they understand, the more they care. Some members assume that USPS compliance is a lengthy process similar to other compliance measures they have for their businesses, which deters them from starting the process. The reality is that USPS compliance is a quick and painless process, especially when you have the right tools. Even if you don’t have the right software to automate the process, it won’t take months to complete. For your members, compliance is the equivalent of grabbing a coffee, having a quick chat, showing two valid IDs, signing a 1583 Form, and ta-da! It’s done.
